JOB OPPORTUNITIES
 

The caseworker position is open to candidates with experience in social work/casework/psychology, preferably of Greek citizenship, who are passionate about LGBT rights and supporting refugees in Greece. Position open immediately.
The right candidate will be able to commit to an initial period of 6 months on our team.. Housing in shared accommodation is included in the offer.


Case Worker Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a steady stream of about 60 cases at once

  • Attend weekly coordination meetings & de-briefs with Project Manager

  • Bi-monthly in-depth casework meetings with each resident

  • Support in social integration for the target population.

  • Arrange referrals/accompanying residents to medical/legal/psychological appointments  

  • Coordinate with other NGO’s in the area to provide services to our residents

  • Identify and prioritize vulnerable cases.

  • Prepare daily case reports & recommendations.

  • Uphold the rules of the program with residents

  • Support and guide residents in their job search

  • Support and guide residents in their housing search near the end of their 12-month stay

  • Coordinate with translators when there is a language barrier with beneficiaries

  • Carry out crisis management and de-escalation techniques in emergency situations with residents 

  • Collaborate on data collection and mapping of structures and services for the target population.

  • Represent Safe Place Greece in meetings with other NGOs or representatives of services and structures, inside and outside Greece.

  • Promoting long-term strategy and problem/conflict resolution.
     

Necessary qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other related social sciences.

  • At least two years of work experience and background with double marginalized groups or refugees

  • Experience in group coordination, preferably in a multidisciplinary team that provides psychosocial support and works in a similar context.

  • Excellent computer capability.

  • Ability to work in a demanding environment (rhythms and workload - keeping timetables).

  • Ability to take initiatives to manage the difficulties encountered in everyday work.

  • Languages. English and Greek required. French is also ideal, other languages are a plus.
     

Ideal Candidates will have: 
 

  • Knowledge of asylum and immigration procedures.

  • A background working with LGBT+ issues

  • Communication skills, team spirit.

  • Experience and familiarity with an intercultural working environment (preference in the field of refugee crisis).

  • An understanding of grassroots style work 

  • The ability to work as a team yet also be self-motivated in terms of work goals and daily tasks

CASE WORKER - LESVOS Women and Children's Shelter, GREECE

Part-Time Case Worker for Women and Children refugee shelter on Greek Island

 

Note: This is a part-time job. Applicants should have a strong command of English and are required to speak Farsi or French in addition to English.

 

Safe Place Greece is an organization dedicated to providing support to double-marginalized communities of refugees and migrants. Our newest project, Lesvos Women and Children's Shelter, is a housing solution for vulnerable women and small children who would otherwise be in danger in the notorious refugee camps on the island.

 

The caseworker position is open to candidates with experience in social work/casework/psychology, preferably of Greek citizenship, who are passionate about refugee rights and supporting refugees in Greece through their application process, integration, and emotional trauma. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Please understand that due to the high number of applicants, only those we wish to interview will be contacted.
